Online application by the student: After nominating your student, the online system (Mobility Online) will generate a personal login for each nominee and send it directly to their e-mail address. Students can then start with their online-application. Therefore it’s very important that you submit the student’s correct email address as well as their correct date of birth. The date of birth is used as a security check to confirm the student’s login.
As part of the process students will be required to:
a) complete an online form with their personal details
b) complete the study plan as part of the learning agreement
c) download an application form for accommodation, sign and upload it
d) download an application form for health insurance, fill it in, sign and upload it (non-EU students only)
e) upload a portfolio (pdf) of their work (design students only)
f) upload a copy of their language certificate with a level of at least B1 (students whose first language is not English or German who want to take classes in German)
g) Once students have been accepted, they have to transfer the semester contribution*
* the semester contribution is NOT a tuition fee and must be paid by all students. The semester contribution is currently 289€. It can change from one semester to the next. After paying the contribution students will get a public transport ticket for all Hamburg’s buses and underground system.
Nomination deadline: 20th October.
Please mind that it is not possible to provide rooms at a student’s hall of residence for all exchange students. Students might have to look for accommodation on their own. Also non-EU students have to register for a German health insurance as international / travel health insurances are not accepted by the visa office. We provide assistance on that during the application procedure. Please also inform your students to check their emails and spam folders often.
The attached check list will give you and your students further information about HAW Hamburg, the academic calendar, living costs, contact details, etc.
